The story of Folke® began with founder Charles Ng, ND, who struggled with sensitive acne-prone skin from a young age and later developed hyperpigmentation in adulthood.
In 1992, at just 15, Charles began searching for a gentler alternative to medication and harsh treatments. He created his first plant-based face mask to treat his own skin, sparking a lifelong passion for botanical skincare.
Trained in naturopathy and engineering, Charles brings a rare integration of botanical science, clinical insight and technological design to modern skincare. His work bridges phytochemistry, holistic healing and biomedical innovation to address the root causes of skin concerns safely and sustainably.
In 2003, Charles founded Arcadia Health Consultancy, which has since evolved into FOLKE®.
For over 20 years, Folke® has provided preventive and reactive care for acne, pigmentation, sensitivity and ageing concerns. Every treatment is personalised and plant-based, supporting diverse skin types, life stages and ethnicities. Charles’s belief remains clear—beauty should restore confidence and reflect your natural self, not reshape it.
As a naturopath, engineer, researcher and IPHM-registered executive practitioner, Charles has pioneered the fusion of nature and science.
Now in his late forties, he continues to lead research and innovation at Folke®. He develops proprietary skincare formulas, engineers in-house treatment technologies and integrates artificial intelligence to optimise outcomes. His vision is rooted in nature and refined through science, offering a modern path to skin clarity, balance and long-term resilience.
